Rollout Roundup: Breaking Down This Week's Best Rollouts 6.13
This week I'm reviewing the rollouts of Kehlani and Kevin Abstract & Dominic Fike.
Hi! If you’re new here, thanks for reading! My name is Olivia, and I own entertainment marketing company Amethyst Collab, where I work with artists and entertainers on creative rollout strategies with a focus on social media and digital marketing. Also, this week is a bit of a catch up, so not all releases are brand new. Now let’s get into it!
Kehlani - "Folded" (Single)
What I Love: Kehlani knows how to build momentum and she's doing it right. That cryptic Instagram post "You ever been open, then folded?" had fans spiraling in the best way - just enough mystery without being annoying about it. The cover art with her in the car perfectly matches the vibe of the song. The TikTok teasing campaign hit, and had us waiting with a countdown for that off-cycle 10am Thursday release.
What I'd Add: Can we get some exclusive behind-the-scenes content? Fans want to see her process, maybe some studio footage or even a TikTok showing how she came up with the concept. The rollout is leaning heavy on existing fans when she could be pulling in new people, which will probably be done during post-release with influencer engagements as the song grows on TikTok.
Kevin Abstract & Dominic Fike - "Geezer" (Single)
What I Love: Okay, this is how you do a comeback. Kevin is literally launching three things at once - a song, a group, and setting up his whole new era - and somehow it doesn't feel messy. The music video being shot from the backseat is so simple but so effective, creating an intimate feel like you're actually hanging out with them. These two have real musical chemistry, the vibes are immaculate and bringing Dominic Fike back in Kevin Abstract’s world after "Peach" feels like the perfect full-circle moment.
What I'd Add: I’d love to see them lean into the group launch. Where are the Geezer Instagram posts? The aesthetic photos? The behind-the-scenes content showing them in the studio together or how this collaboration came about? If you're launching a whole new entity, you need to build that world properly. I want to see their chemistry, their creative process, maybe some new press pics establishing the visual vibe.
