Rollout Roundup: Breaking Down This Week's Best Rollouts 3.14
This week I’m reviewing the rollouts of Chappell Roan and HAIM.
Hi! If you’re new here, thanks for reading! My name is Olivia, and I own entertainment marketing company Amethyst Collab, where I work with artists and entertainers on creative rollout strategies with a focus on social media and digital marketing. Now let’s get into it!
Chappell Roan - The Giver (Single)
What I Love: Great long lead time on this single, since it’s her first new music release since her 2023 album had a meteoric rise in 2024. The TikTok dance was fun and it was great to see Chappell herself lean in, proving you’re never too big to be engaged with your own music marketing. The Hot To Go Hotline where fans could call a phone number and hear an early snippet of “The Giver” was so fun and engaging, and her midwest billboard campaign advertising the hotline was a perfect nod to her hometown area. Honorable mention to her social media series, where she posted photos dressed as different jobs, proving she “gets the job done” as the lyrics from the song say.
What I’d Add: It’s honestly hard to ask for more out of a single rollout. But I will say, I think the pacing of this rollout could have moved faster. A long lead up is normally helpful, and maybe my brain is fried from the 2-day rollouts hip hop can pull off, but I think 4 weeks was a bit long for this single since she had already performed it live.
HAIM - Relationships (Single)
What I Love: The initial tease of this song has been having it’s day in the sun on TikTok. With the right amount of good energy for summer and the excitement that comes along with the HAIM sisters return, it’s fair to say this record had a great pre-release buzz. The band also did a great job of turning their cover art into a meme, with fans posting that the joyful skipping photo is “how it feels to (insert something good here)”. The trends around the song felt really in line with the records theme and the band’s target audience, a combination rarely well-executed in pre release marketing.
What I’d Add: I’d love to see fun social content with the sisters continue on their own channels. I loved their influencer collaborations, especially when they were serenaded by the singing TikToker who loves to ambush celebrities, but they could stand to create a few content series or motifs with each other across channels for fans to tune into during their rollouts and downtime.
