Rollout Roundup 8: The Best Marketing Rollouts of the Week
There was no shortage of creativity this week.
Cochise featuring $NOT - Tell Em (SINGLE)
Every now and then, a single gets the internet buzzing, and reminds me why the Soundcloud niche era is still alive and well. Miss the Rage was one of these songs, and it looks like fans are gravitating towards Cochise and his $NOT-graced post-project single for their next dose.
Strengths: Internet buzz. Yes, there’s an art to this, and Cochise is doing it well. I presume it’s only up for him. Visuals are on point too, coming of the beautiful album cover he released earlier in the month, Cochise has yet to disappoint. Great job with the visualizer too, releasing a visual aspect with singles goes a long way.
Weaknesses: Not a weakness yet, but looking forward to seeing the music video…
EDIT: The Lyrical Lemonade-assisted video is here, and it does NOT disappoint! Check it out here.
Earthgang featuring Coi Leray - (SINGLE)
An unlikely collaboration? Perhaps not.
Strengths: Earthgang is one of my favorite artists not only sonically, but because of how interesting they are visually. From their Spillage Village Tiny Desk, to their instagram presence, Earthgang is captivating. You can’t help but stare. They do a great job of commanding a digital stage, and their presence is never missed. Something about Earthgang feels very once-in-a-generation. Not to mention their passion for philanthropy, which only brings the electric duo’s passions to life. The collab with Coi and Wale will turn heads on name alone, and it’s this type of out-of-the-box thinking that sets them apart.
Weaknesses: I was searching for a good picture of the duo close together for this screen grab, and it was a bit hard to find a recent one. So my only note would be the usual: more press pics please!
Mereba - AZEB (EP)
From stunning visuals to engaging interviews, Mereba gave us everything that we love from her.
Strengths: Beautiful visuals, show-stopping interview with Vogue. Mereba announced her journey to motherhood has commenced, which was a very personal and captivating part of this release, intentional or not.
Weaknesses: I would love to see Mereba step outside of the confines of traditional rollout usage of social media. Seeing her more active on socials would bring fans more into her realm of creativity and could compel them to feel more connected to her as an artist outside of her music.
